We create awareness around breast cancer, and empower and support people affected by it. Formerly known as Pride Foundation, the Breast Cancer Foundation has been proud to be at the forefront of breast cancer awareness, empowerment and support programmes. In the last 12 years, the Breast Cancer Foundation has run numerous awareness campaigns together with the public sector and private sector It has also run empowerment programmes for breast cancer survivors who are living their lives to the fullest after beating the disease. It has also contributed to breast cancer patients directly through monetary support such as through our Breast Cancer Foundation Patient Fund.

Cancer Research Malaysia is the only non-profit organisation in the country dedicated to the research of cancers that commonly affect Malaysians and Asians. We aim to create a future free of the fear of cancer, by conducting research to find better ways of preventing and curing cancer. We have developed a vaccine for oral and nasopharyngeal cancer, two cancers that are common in Asia. We are enabling precision medicine in Asians, by working on Asians cancers and on Asian genetics. Hepatitis Free Malaysia (HFP), registered with the Registrar of Societies Malaysia in April 2017, is an NGO that provides a unified platform dedicated to raising awareness about hepatitis and liver cancer, whilst driving action to influence real change to reduce the viral hepatitis and liver cancer burden. HFM aims to empower and inspire everyone, as individuals and collectively, to take action to support Hepatitis B and C screening and linked them to care.

Hospis Malaysia is a leading organisation for palliative care in Malaysia. In line with its focus on advocating for greater accessibility to palliative care in the country, it strives to strengthen its lead position in education and training in palliative care while offering the highest possible quality of palliative care to patients in the Klang Valley. Founded in 1992, the International Medical University (IMU) is Malaysia’s first full-fledged private medical and health sciences university offering pre-university, undergraduate and postgraduate programmes including credit-transfer options to partner universities worldwide. As part of the IMU’s vision in advancing research, the IMU Institute for Research, Development and Innovation’s (IRDI) Centre for Cancer and Stem Cell conducts basic, translational and clinical research with the aim to make critical advances in the understanding of cancer. MACR exists to foster cancer research in Malaysia, as well as to provide a platform in promoting the dissemination of latest research discoveries among scientists, health care professionals and related stakeholders. MSMBB is a non-profit organisation that was established in 1988, with the following objectives: (1) to promote communication among scientists in the field of molecular biology and biotechnology in Malaysia, (2) to contribute to the advancement of molecular biology and biotechnology, (3) to promote collaboration with other related organizations in the areas of research, education, training and publications. Max Family Society Malaysia (Max Family) is a registered patient support group for blood and rare cancers. We believe cancer treatment involves more than routine medical care. Through our multifaceted support, we embrace each individual in the community to ensure cancer journey is never a lonely path. It was started by 10 courageous Chronic Myeloid Leukemia patients and caregivers in 2006 with the support of The Max Foundation. Today Max Family is empowered by cancer patients, caregivers, healthcare providers and volunteers.

For 50 years, the National Cancer Society of Malaysia (NCSM) has empowered Malaysians in preventing, detecting, and overcoming cancer. Founded in 1966, NCSM is the first not-for-profit cancer organisation in Malaysia that provides education, care and support services for people affected by cancer. Its five centres include the Cancer and Health Screening Clinic, Nuclear Medicine Centre, Resource and Wellness Centre, Quit Smoking Clinic, and the Children’s Home of Hope. It also has six branches in the following states: Johor, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, Perak, Penang, and Sarawak. NCSM is also the proud host of the World Cancer Congress 2018, held from 1 to 4 October at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.

Nilai Medical Centre (NMC) first started in 1999 as Nilai Cancer Institute (NCI) with the aim to provide affordable, optimal & holistic care to all cancer patients. NCI Oncology, a unit of NMC, is a one stop cancer center which provides comprehensive treatment for cancer and its management in entirety. The services range from screening, diagnostic, surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, hormonal therapy, targeted therapy to radio-iodine therapy. We also provide palliative care to terminally ill cancer patients. NCI Oncology together with cancer survivors recently formed the cancer support group called Negeri Sembilan Oncology Patient Support Group (NSOPSG).

Our main aim is to carry out research on oral cancer, and to coordinate oral cancer research in Malaysia such that there is no overlap and wastage of resources. Our niche area is the early detection of oral cancer and holistic management of oral patients’ well-being. Research is being carried out/planned by our researchers and collaborators on various aspects such as epidemiology, molecular biology, diagnostic tools, novel therapeutics/drug discoveries, health-related quality of life and oral cancer patient supportive care. In acknowledging that oral cancer results in different degrees of debilitation and handicap in its sufferer’s quality of life in terms of loss of function, physical fatigue and psychosocial issues such a reduced body image, anxiety, depression and isolation, OCRCC initiated a Support Care Program in November 2017 for post-operative oral cancer patients, survivors and care-givers. This program aims to engage and empower the community of oral cancer patients, survivors and their caregivers, offering life-long support in terms of transfer of relevant knowledge and coping skills in order to enhance their quality of life.

The MSBMB is the recognised National body associated with IUBMB and FAOBMB that aims to advance knowledge and education in matters related to biochemistry & molecular biology through meaningful events and partnerships. Pink Ribbon Wellness (L) Foundation was registered on 28 Feb 2012 as a Labuan Charitable Foundation under the Labuan Foundation Act 2010. Researchers at the Malaysia campus are working with Breast Cancer Malaysia to develop a new mathematical computer model to predict the risk of breast cancer specifically in Malaysian and Singaporean woman because most current predictions for breast cancer risk in women are based on genetic models of Western women. This model could be used to identify those most at risk and encourage regular screening, which would mean earlier diagnosis and treatment. The War on Cancer is an advocacy campaign to raise awareness on cancer because early detection seem to be the best way to fight the disease.

The UPM - MAKNA Cancer Research Laboratory (CANRES) was established in 2005 as a joint collaboration between the Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) and Majlis Kanser Nasional (MAKNA) in pursuit of enhancing cancer treatment. The main objective of CANRES is to coordinate, integrate and centralize all cancer research in UPM towards developing, expanding and commercializing the research outcomes in one focus and strategic management. Research at CANRES focuses on the development of anticancer agents by using biodiversity that is availabale in Malaysia, the application of immunotherapeutics and stem cells in cancer therapy. CANRES also focuses on research applying new molecular technologies in the identification of genetics alterations of cancer in Malaysia. Our researchers come from various fields including genetics, biochemistry, histology, pathology and cell biology. Since its establishment, CANRES researchers have won numerous awards and some findings have been succesfully patented. Some of these products are currently in pre-clinical testing as has been shown to be effective in killing cancer cells. The involvement of CANRES in cancer research directly contributes to the effort in providing information, prevention and current treatments in the fight against cancer in Malaysia. In order to achieve this, CANRES researchers are ready to collaborate with both the public and private sectors in the hopes to maximize the research outcomes for the common good.
